Abstract
This study aims to prepare earth building codes and test methods that enables the earth building to be a reliable modern architecture in our society sooner, by addressing different strength test methods in modern earth building codes over the nations. First of all, by referring to already standardized tests in domestic and foreign related fields and the requirements of existing building codes, it would be easier to secure the reliability compared to each requirement invented by each country. Nevertheless, it should not be overlooked to establish requirements that reflect the features of soil and climate of our own land. Meanwhile, since earth building can be built by taking earth in situ, it is necessary to regulate both field and lab tests for varied properties including compressive and tensile strength.
